Run an Effective PPC Campaign for Your Legitimate Internet Home Business

PPC | Posted by admin
Aug 23 2010

There is no other method that can drive targeted traffic to your internet based business faster than a Adwords campaign, but if you have not learned the correct way to do this it will be like pouring your money down the drain.

In this article we are going to look at how you can effectively run a small campaign without draining your budget dry.

1. Begin by setting the boundaries on your campaign.

As this is just a small campaign that we are discussing, you need to think about the amount of conversions you are aiming at for a maximum cost. For example if you are earning $20 per sale and your budget is $100 then you would need to make at least 5 sales in order to break even and one more would then put you in profit. If you could manage to achieve a 3% conversion rate you would have to generate 200 click throughs to get your 6 sales. This would mean that your maximum cost per click or CPC should not exceed 50 cents.

You will need to set your maximum budget limit at the time that you enter your campaign details into the Adwords campaign settings. As you learn what works for you and you begin getting a decent return on your investment you will then be able to increase the amount you are spending each month, but until you know exactly what you are doing, don’t exceed the budget that you originally set.

When setting up your Adwords campaign details make sure that you choose “set a separate bid for content network impressions”. In other words if you have set you cost per click at 50 cents you would really only want to pay this amount for targeted placement ads. You certainly wouldn’t like to pay this amount every time your ad is clicked, so it would be wiser to set the bid at one cent throughout the content network where it is reaching a far less targeted audience. Rather save your big guns for the targeted placement ads.

2. Keywords choice:

The main thing you need to do here is find several different keyword phrases that are closely linked to the product you are selling. Choose words that attract a fair number of searches and are priced within your budget for maximum cost per click, but the words must be targeted, this is of utmost importance!

3. Writing your ads.

Your ads are limited to 95 characters including spaces so you must make every word count when writing your ads. Even if your ads are only 10 to 15 words long they will still need to tell your potential customers what the benefits of buying the product will be to them and also needs to encourage them to take action.

4. Split testing your ads.

When running a campaign for your internet based business, one ad is not sufficient. It would be far better to write three or four different ads so that you can test one against the other to see which works to bring you the best possible results. This way you will be able to dispense with the ads that don’t achieve much and replace them with better ones. It would be to your advantage to sign up with Adwords Free Conversion Tracking as it will help you to measure your results.

Make this a task that you do each and every month and you will begin to see your results improving over a period of time. Your ads will also be monitored by Adwords to check their performance and once they have enough data, the ad will then be shown with the best click through rate more often.

5. You will also need to test and check on your landing pages on a regular basis. By dividing you Adwords campaign into two and pointing the ads to two different landing pages you will be able to see which one is converting your sales more quickly and you will be able to make changes that will then bring you the best results.

You will need to constantly test and tweak your Adwords campaigns to find out what is working and what does not work. This way you will achieve success, so long as you stay within the budget you have set and you don’t get carried away.

How to Avoid SEO Scams

SEO | Posted by admin
Aug 21 2010

Feeling like you have been scammed is the worst. I hate it. And believe me, it has happened more than once in my life. But the ultimate low is when you believed in the scam to the point that you invested yourself wholeheartedly. As if losing the money were not enough, you lost precious time into the bargain. Of course, in the world of online business that usually means some kind of or Internet marketing situation.

itself is not a scam I am happy to assure you. I have been an consultant since 1999 and can readily testify to the possibilities of getting to the top of , Yahoo and MSN. There are a lot of very talented professionals out there as well as plenty of Web business owners who have mastered the art. Unfortunately there are still more who must rely on others to optimize for them. Or worse, purchase expensive software and gimmicks to help them do it themselves and trust to the integrity of the developer.

While I believe that most people are honest I have to shake my head and wonder about some of the software and informational packets I see being sold. Some are worth every dime and more but there are a few that leave me wondering what the author or developer was thinking.

All that being said; here are three steps to avoid being scammed on or Internet Marketing products and services.

Step One: Try not to purchase anything that guarantees top search engine placement. No person or product can do this except for the search engine itself. Just remember that if it seems to good to be true, it probably is.

Step Two: Return any products you have recently purchased if they are not doing the job for you. Do not feel foolish for ordering it or bad for returning it. You trusted that the product would work as advertised. If it does not, return it. Unfortunately this is often easier said than done but if you purchased through a third party like ClickBank, it is easier than you think, but often hard to find a link for. Just go to http://www.clickbank.com/csinquiry.html and fill out the short return form. It takes less than two minutes and you are credited usually within one day. This is also where to go if you need tech support and are just not getting it anyplace else.

Step Three: Avoid working with pros that guarantee top placement. As I said before, nobody can guarantee your placement. The best they can do is warrantee that you will obtain specific ranking or get a full or partial refund. But even then, be leery. Nobody is able to work for free and warranties such as these usually come at a high price.

Bonus Step: Avoid paying upfront if possible. It is not as crazy as it sounds. I recently found a consulting service that answers and Internet Marketing questions over the phone for one dollar per minute. It is called by the Minute http://www.SEObytheMinute.com.

I tried it out by calling their toll free number at 1 888 WISE and was pleasantly surprised. I spent a total of seven minutes on the phone but only four were billed since the first three were before I asked my questions. I did not even need a credit card. I received an invoice from PayPal after the call was complete so I could choose my own method of secure payment. Nice touch!

Companies always claim there is no risk to your money due to their refund policies. But experience teaches us that once they have our money, getting it back can be an uphill battle. It is refreshing to find a company that actually trusts you to pay after they have delivered the goods.

Once more, be on the lookout for companies that are willing to work with you in good faith. It may take a while to find but it is well worth it.

search engine optimization is essential if you want your website to attract traffic. A lack of good and optimization of your web pages to attract the attention of search engine spiders can be deadly to the success of an online business.

By far the best traffic to get is free traffic, and unless you are expert at using pay per click advertising techniques such as Adwords you are liable to spend a fortune trying to make up for your inadequacies. Only 1% of those that start in internet marketing actually make any money: mainly because they have no idea how to promote their web pages. There are other reasons of course, and a website is not always necessary, but if you have one then you must learn how to optimize it to attain as high a listing position as possible.

search engine optimization is about telling search engines exactly what each page of your website is saying, and that it is highly relevant to the keyword, or search term, for which you have optimized it. It is not enough to have a good looking well designed website with lots of good content on your site. It is essential that manipulate the search engine algorithms to calculate a high degree of relevance of your page to the requirements of those using and other search engines to find information.

Algorithms are mathematical formulae and are blind. They cannot see your great graphics and . They follow the html on your web page including the text. You can give greater weighting to the important words on your page through proper formatting in order to enable the algorithm to accurately establish the theme of the page.

The spiders that crawl your site should be led to where you want them to go to, and good , site navigation and internal linking structure is part of achieving that. It is also a component of your . THere is alot more to than just soem H heading tags and keyword meta tags – much more. There are still many self-proclaimed ‘ experts’ that insist on you having 2% – 5% keyword density in your text. They have argued through me, yet I know that this is nonsense: contextual relevance is what search engines are seeking these days, not interminable repetitions of keywords that will achieve nothing but get your site lost in the supplementary results that nobody sees.

There have been a large number of changes in search engine optimization over the last few years, and is no longer what it once was. However, what won’t change is the benefit to you of having a full understanding of the principles behind the actions you are taking when optimizing your website form search engines such as .

Important Issues to Remember Before Buying an Expired Domain Name

Domain Names | Posted by admin
Aug 08 2010

Buying expired domains is a tricky topic! You will need to be very careful while buying an expired because many of these domains may have some problems associated with their registration. There have been instances when the previous owner decided to approach the legal authorities to reclaim their expired domains. While you need to be very careful in your dealings, you may also need to consider the following issues before buying domains that are expiring.

The issue of trademark: Make sure that the that you buy does not have any trademark associated with it. You will need to be very careful in dealing with domains that have trademarks against their URL. You could even land in potential legal hassles when you buy such domains. You may wish to conduct a detailed research to check whether the expired has any trademark. Use one of the web sites that provide information on trademarks.

The issue of corporate expired names: Many names have a close relation with corporate businesses. If a company or a business firm owns the names, you may even forfeit such names. In some instances, companies may simply forget to renew some of their names.

Tip: It is almost difficult to find out who is the real owner of a before it expired. However, you can still find out more about a particular expired .

To find out more about expired domains and their previous ownership, use these tools to conduct a detailed research:

a) Go to www.alexa.com that maintains a big database of millions of web sites. You can find out details like link popularity, ownership, traffic, ratings or rankings etc in this exhaustive web site. Just use the following URL to check the previous history of the web : http://xslt.alexa.com/data?cli=100&url=.COM. Some times, you may never find any information on some of the names.

b) Go to www..com to check the cache status of the expired names. always maintains a cache directory of web sites by using its spider technology. It is possible to visit a cached online copy of a web , including expired ones. With this tool, you can find out if the expired you want to buy had any trademark associated with it. Type the URL of the expired into the search engine box and make sure that you are checking the cache copy of the expired web .

c) Use link popularity checking tools: You can find out more about previously owned expired domains. Choose any of the link popularity checking web sites and enter the URL of the expired to check the links against the name. This gives you a fair estimate of the number of online references related to the domains. Zero values mean that the expired did not have any activity while higher values signify that the was very active in its previous avatar. However, the downside of this method is that you may find it very difficult to find the quality of these links. Some domains may have just a few links associated with it. However, these links may be very good in that they came from high quality web sites. On the other hand, an expired may have lot of links that came from insignificant web domains. Making a comparison just on the number of links may be quite premature and improper.

By using the above mentioned tools, you can find out minute and precise information about your expired . However, use these tools with utmost caution and without any prejudice as some of the data extracted could be misleading.

Tired of SEO Theories and Algorithms: Try Blogging

Blogging | Posted by admin
Aug 03 2010

Most of the local business owners, who I know, still don’t have a web presence -for a combination of reasons. Many business owners are from my age group and don’t feel comfortable setting up a website. So, they pay somebody else to do it or it never gets done. There are a multitude of reasons to avoid launching your business on the web, and all of them are “lame excuses.”

As I travel around town, I get to hear all the excuses. “I’m too old,” “Our business isn’t the Internet type,” and “I don’t know HTML.” You can tell everybody else those excuses, but do you want to grow your business or not? The vast majority of small
businesses fail, and the Internet is the cheapest form of advertising available.

If haven’t launched a website or , you are delaying business marketing progress for nothing. Take a computer class, learn from your kids, or learn from your grandchildren, but start as soon as possible. Perhaps, your grandchild can earn some money teaching you how to make even more money.

Blogs are to start with, since you don’t need to have any HTML knowledge. You can also go to Blogger, and get a free . It might take you 10 to 15 minutes to set up and start posting information right away.

Some website hosts work like that too, but let’s assume you have a site of some kind. Did you know your website host might have a feature built in, at no extra charge? If you have this feature, you can easily build a commercial .

For a small business, with a website and commercial , you should be able to establish your natural search engine rankings. Sometimes, these are called “organic rankings” and you don’t have to pay a penny for them. It may take a few months or more to establish yourself, and you should make regular posts.

For optimum results, your regular posts can be daily, a few times per week, or once a week. More postings are much better and will have significant impact on your rankings. Search engines love frequent posts, such as those found in Blogs.

Instead of worrying about algorithms, and (search engine optimization) theories, go back to the basics and boost your rankings with content. Most of us have heard, “Content is King,” and it is totally true.

So what do you say about your business? Tell your established customers and prospects about your service and products. Explain what your unique selling proposition (USP) is. This is what makes you different from similar businesses in your town.

When you have new products, or are looking for feedback about new product development, a is extremely useful. Your customers and prospects can leave you feedback, so marketing research is very .

Lastly, don’t shy away from a “gold mine.” Free advertising is too valuable to ignore. Blogs are the advertising bargain of the decade and possibly, of the 21st century.

Natural SEO vs. PPC

SEO | Posted by admin
Jul 15 2010

When a company is ready to implement an campaign to optimize their web presence, they have to what tactics they want to pony up to their stable. Should a company implement natural , or paid search, or both? This could depend upon your business or budget, but most firms will strongly recommend using both and . But to decide, you must first look that the differences between the two and what demographics are being targeted by each tactic. Please take these numbers with a grain of salt, for they are a few years old. Internet usage is growing so fast, these usage numbers are changing daily. The behavioral statistics are the focus here.

According to an iProspect Search Engine User Attitudes Study of 1,649 people, 56.3 percent of the participants use search engines at least once a day and 56.7 percent use the same search engine. Among the participants, 81.7 percent responded that they will try a new search if they haven’t found what they are searching for within the first three pages. It was also found that the younger the internet browser, the more likely it is to get past the SERP (search engine results page). This number isn’t surprising, as the older population have been slower to adopt technology than the younger generations. Also, male browsers are more likely to go past the SERP than females.

The study also showed that the search engine used can play a factor in the type of results they found relevant. and Yahoo! users engaged with natural search as a more relevant result to their activities. Users who used MSN found that paid search advertisements were more relevant to their search. AOL users found both natural and paid search to be equally relevant. As MSN transitions to Bing, we could see this behavior change dramatically.

Gender also had its role to play in search. Both men and women favor natural results. However, 43.1 percent of female participants responded to paid search as relevant, while only 34.6 percent of of men found paid search results to be relevant to their search. Education and employment also factored in to behavior and preference. The more educated and employed someone was, the more they favored natural search results as a relevant solution to their search. Non-college graduates and unemployed participants favored paid search.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate Marketing | Posted by admin
Jul 14 2010

I often get asked, “What is Affiliate Marketing?”

Affiliate Marketing may be simply defined as:
“Selling other peoples products for a commission”

Affiliate Marketing is a simple but powerful concept and is well known as the easiest and the quickest way of earning money on the internet. Because the basic concept of selling others products on a commission basis, works particularly well on the Internet.

Here are some simple and steps to help you get to grips with affiliate marketing:

  1. First of all you need to decide on a market niche which you think will be a good one, Health, Sports, Clothing, Computers, and so on are all examples of some market areas for an affiliate marketer. Finding a good one that will pay you the best is another book all by itself! But in a nutshell you are looking for low competition niche areas to start with, at least until you find your feet…
  2. You will need to Register with some suitable affiliate agents where you can choose product(s) to sell, some examples are www.CJ.com (worldwide) or www.affiliatefuture.co.uk (mostly UK based) you can plenty more if you need to :-)
  3. For every product you choose to promote, you will receive a specific affiliate link, this will be totally unique to you so your sales can be tracked, and you will obviously need to decide the best way of promoting your unique affiliate link to get more and more sales. Again this is another whole book all by itself, but I am just trying to give you an overview here OK ;-)

Thats all for today… Until next time…
